Menopausal Management

Menopause is the normal ending of menstruation that occurs in all women.. Menopause is defined as the loss of menstrual periods for 12 consecutive months.  However, the age  is different for each woman and can occur between 40 and 60 years of age.

Symptoms are different for every woman, but will probably include any or a combination of the following:

  • Hot flashes
  • Changes in libido
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Mood swings

Treatment may include:

  • Hormone therapy
  • Lower dose oral contraceptive pills
  • Lifestyle changes
  • Phytoestrogens (plant-based estrogen-like hormones)
  • Non-hormonal prescription medications
