Cancer screening is an important part of routine gynecologic care and most patients who are screened for cancer are healthy. We care about your overall health and are following health guidelines to provide optimal care.
Screenings may include:
- Breast screenings – your practitioner will examine your breasts, looking for lumps and possible changes in the breast tissue. If necessary, you may need an ultrasound to examine the breast tissue further. Your practitioner may also recommend a mammogram.
- Pap smears – these samples of your cervical tissue are examined by microscope for evidence of cancerous or pre-cancerous cells. Your practitioner will perform a pelvic exam at your well-woman health visit. If indicated, the Pap smear will be performed at the same time.
